Edith Fischer, piano
Born in Santiago, Chile, in a
family of well known musicians, Edith Fischer began her musical studies
with her mother. The enthusiastic recommendations of great artists like Ormandy, Busch and Kleiber, resulted in her being awarded an American scholarship to study in New York, where she became one of the very few pupils acknowledged by Claudio Arrau in the book "Conversations with Arrau". |

Shortly after her arrival in Europe, she was granted
the Dinu Lipatti Prize in London and later won the Munich International
Competition. Since then, she has played as soloist with renown
orchestras and conductors, recitals and chamber music, also on radio and
television in most European countries, North and South America, Japan,
India and Israel. Her dedication to music, constant searching as an
interpreter, interest in a wide repertoire, have generated her unusual
career. Her diverse discography includes all the Beethoven sonatas and
the complete works by Ravel and she has also played numerous works by
contemporary composers. Edith Fischer has a much praised piano duo
with her husband Jorge Pepi-Alos, pianist and composer.
