Denise Benda, piano

 

 

Denise Benda was born into a family of a long musical tradition. She first studied with her father, the pianist Sebastian Benda and then with Paul Badura-Skoda at the Vienna Music University, with Rudolf Buchbinder at the Basle Academy and with Murray Perahia at the “Britten-Pears School“ in Aldeburgh/ England.

 

She has performed throughout the world as a recitalist, orchestral soloist and chamber musician and has cooperated with distinguished musicians such as Josef Suk, Tibor Varga, Evgenia Tchugajeva and Isabelle Faust among others.

 

Denise Benda has given concerts in 20 countries playing in many important musical centres such as Vienna (Musikverein), Salzburg (Neue Residenz),  London (Barbican Centre), Manchester (Hartley Hall), Rome (Teatro Sistina), Osaka (Lovely Hall), Moscow (Rachmaninov-Hall), Budapest (Liszt-Academy), Prague (Cultural Palace).

 

Frequently invited at important international Festivals (Festival International de Piano de La Roque d'Anthéron, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Orford Music Festival of Canada, Semaine Int. de Piano Blonay) brought her to participate to the creation of the "International Berengaria Music Festival” in Cyprus, being its artistic director since 2003.

 

Her recording activity for radio and TV broadcasting companies worldwide as well as CD’s for FONO (Germany) and BMC (Holland) complete her artistic profile.

 

She is often invited to give master-classes for both piano and piano chamber music in Austria, Taiwan, Switzerland, Croatia and Brazil, as music pedagogy is an essential part of her artistic vision.

Denise Benda teaches at the Konservatorium Wien University (Austria).
